Because I’m Weak, in Him, I’m Strong.

“So I am well pleased with weaknesses, with insults, with distresses, with persecutions, and with difficulties, for the sake of Christ; for when I am weak [in human strength], then I am strong [truly able, truly powerful, truly drawing from God’s strength].” 2 Corinthians 12:10 AMP

Wherever I go, when I’m in conversation with other women, I always get asked the same question, ‘How do you do it? How do you work, run your business, do ministry, and care for your kids and your home?’ I typically laugh and give the cute answer, “I don’t do it alone. Thankfully, my husband helps me and God graces me.” Now, I’m well aware that I’m not the only woman who takes care of her home, her husband, her kids, her business, and serves in ministry. In fact, I know there are women who do a lot more than me. For this reason, I’m completely confident in what I’m about to say.

As good and easy as I might make all that I do look, the truth is – most days, I don’t want to do any of it! If I can be honest, some days I want to disappear for a week. And, I know I’m not the only one. There are times when the load is light; and then, there are times when the load is so heavy, you just want to drop it and run! Recently, my husband was working mandatory overtime at work, so almost all the household responsibilities were falling on me. But as much as I’d like to just drop stuff, I can’t do that if God hasn’t directed me to let it go. So, what then? God-given tasks don’t get put on hold. Purpose doesn’t stop because life circumstances change!

Well, my friend, this is when reality hits; and I realize that I am truly weak, and that is great news! Because, as exhausting as my days can be, they are great reminders that the only way I got through the day and accomplished anything was because I wasn’t alone. It was because of God’s strength in me. Long days, longer nights, heavy lifting, “taking one for the team” – it’s not forever. And, we will have those seasons. But, when we do, we need to be confident that we can manage it with grace because when we are weak, in Him, we are strong.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, as I start this week, I just want to take a moment to thank You for allowing me to see another day. Thank You for another day of life and another opportunity to do the tasks You planned for me before I existed. Help me to remember that apart from You I am nothing and I can do nothing. I need You, Your presence, and Your Spirit more. Thank You for Your joy, Your joy is my strength. No matter what comes my way today, I know I have the grace to handle it because I draw my strength from You. And, everywhere I go, in everything I do and everything I say, I will give You all the glory, honor, and praise in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Weekly Wisdom Challenge: Women wear a lot of hats. We’re moms, daughters, wives, sisters, boss ladies, ministry servants, etc. Here’s what we’re not – Wonder Woman! Wise women know that we serve a God who cares for us, so we can cast our cares on Him. God said He would give us His rest, and so it is our promise. You are going to have heavy-laden days, but you will not have them alone as long as you’re willing to recognize that it is in His strength you can do what you do. I challenge you to start each day this week reciting 2 Corinthians 12:10 and reminding yourself that you are, in fact, weak; but, in Him, you are strong!
